Being able to jump higher in basketball is essential. This could be one of the most important factors of how good you are at basketball, because jumping high is almost required to be good. In order to be good, you will need to be able to at least block passes or shots. So basically it comes down to this, if you want to be valuable in basketball, you need to be able to jump.
So how exactly is it possible to jump higher? It’s quite easy really, the muscles that are required to jump just need to be worked out. The problem that you will find is that these are complex muscles, and they require unique exercises. If you work out the muscles that you require to jump, they can actually become much bigger and stronger. The muscles that are going to need to be strengthened are the calf muscles, the dorsi flexors, and generally all of your leg muscles.
The dorsi flexors can be exercised by using exercises that put pressure on the balls of your feet. Walk around the house on the balls of your feet, or stand on a raised ground surface like bricks or stairs on the balls of your feet and then relax them on to the floor.
Calf muscles can be worked out by doing calf raises or running on a vertical ramp.
You can work out your leg muscles great by doing a sprinting exercise called suicide drills. Most coaches run this drill with their players in order to strengthen their jumping power. For this drill, start from the baseline of a track and run 15 feet. Then you need to stoop down, touch the ground with your fingers. End the workout by running back to the baseline. Repeat this process over and over again, adding about 15 ft each time till you reach a total of 90 feet wide.
Another thing that you will need is a program that you will teach you how to increase your vertical explosion. A good program that will do this is JumpManual for vertical basketball. You can also take a second and check out the Jump manual review.
